Kapiti Coast Museum

The Museum is located in the old Waikanae Post Office building of 1908, which is a Category 2 Heritage Places Trust building. It is strong in local history artifacts, archives, telecommunications and radio equipment. Interactive displays include quill pens, typewriter, slates and a morse key. A fully equipped replica 1930's kitchen complements the collection.

Current Exhibition 'About TIME' is all about.... time!

Exhibitions coming later this year: "Early Settler's Travel" and "Port, Waikanae" (The Port Family Collection). We also reflect on World War One with our own local returned soldier's story told with archives, photos and objects.

The Kapiti Coast Museum is a member of the Discover Kapiti Heritage Group, which is comprised of all seven museums in the Kapiti Coast District.
