Medal; a medal for proficiency in practical chemistry, 1890. Presented by Dr A Scheidel to H Patridge.

Dr August Scheidel was a German chemist, pioneer and world expert in cyanide extraction processes. He spent a period working at Thames on the refractory ore problem. Scheidel’s work was part of the revolution in ‘gold saving’ from refractory ores throughout the world.
