About this object
Concert programme clipping; on one side is an image of the Kia-Tere Hockey Club, in 1906, with names of members printed below. Muriel Taylor is identified at the top left. On the reverse is a fragment of Part 2 of a concert programme, with the first item being the chorus 'Twenty Love-Sick Maidens', sung by the Hockey Club.

Muriel Kerr Taylor, nearly a generation younger than her sisters, took an interest in the wider range of sports now available to women, playing hockey, tennis, and golf. She also most likely inherited her mother's musical talents. The title of the chorus is particularly apt as Muriel would go on to have her own experience of heartache. It is said that she used to sneak out of the house to meet one particular man whom she was not permitted to marry because her mother said he wasn't up to her standard.(1) He died in World War II.
