Geraldine Historical Society Museum

The Geraldine Historical Society aims to provide for present and future generations an accurate interesting and comprehensive picture of local history. We keep in touch with our community by encouraging visits to the museum, articles in the press, and speaking to groups. We have an active committee of 15 people plus 91 volunteers and two WINZ workers are vital to these aims. Amazing Photo boards, innovative displays, DVD presentations, research inquiries welcome, central location, visitor friendly.

Over the past twelve months our museum has welcomed 15,065 visitors to the museum. Our museum is open seven days a week with the reception desk manned by a volunteer from our pool of 106.

We also offer safe storage of records to clubs and organisations in acid free storage boxes.

We have now approximately 7,500 photographs in our collection, and this was reflected in a diverse range of images chosen for the Historical Photograph exhibition a cornerstone of the 150th celebrations held during the week 6th – 13th of May 2007. They stimulated interest, information, discussion and excitement for visitors and locals, and are now in folders at the museum, available for the public to view. A wonderful week of celebrations; who will ever forget the street parade including our own float, people dressed in period costume, shop displays and the cemetery & town tours, and period ball.
