The Greytown Cottage Hospital, built in 1875 was the first purpose-built public hospital in the Wairarapa.
Operating as a cottage hospital until a new Greytown Hospital was built, this building contained 2 wards, 2 living rooms for the couple in charge, a doctor's room, store room and a scullery. There was no bathroom.
In 1974 this building was moved to the Cobblestones Museum site, carefully restored and subsequently add to the NZ Historic Places Trust register as a Category 2 heritage building.
