Wooden Poi Pounder from the New Hebrides. Carved face on back and on pounding arm. 550 x 185 50mm (HWD). A Poi Pounder was used to pound taro to get poi, a paste-like food that was a main food staple. Presented to the Waitangi National Trust by the French Consul on the unveiling day of the Centennial Memorial to Marion du Fresne. Copyright
