Childs 2 piece gown
About this object
Burgandy/bronze corded silk, two piece gown.

The boned bodice comprises 8 panels with a stand-up collar. The 'leg of mutton' sleeves are lined with cotton which helps to hold the shape at the top without collapsing. The bodice front is trimmed with striped silk from the shoulder bow to the bodice edge. The buttons down the front are known as 'Austrian tinies'. The gown shows evidence of being altered and the striped silk is probably not original to the garment
