A 1/48 scale model of the immigrant ship St Pauli made by local modeller Peta Raggett. The St Pauli was chartered by the New Zealand Company to bring the first group of German settlers to this country. They sailed from Hamburg December 1842, arriving in Nelson some six months later after a harrowing voyage.Many of these settlers would go on to settle Upper Moutere, Ranzau (now called Hope) as well as Nelson.
