About this object
Pattern; a Berlin woolwork design, consisting of a black and white Cavalier King Charles spaniel on a red cushion. The design is hand-painted onto pre-printed grid paper, with the number '2348' at the top right corner and 'A Todt in Berlin' at the bottom left. The pattern is signed 'Miss E Laird' on the reverse, in a 19th century hand.

Elizabeth Laird was Robert Fyffe's sister, who came to New Zealand from New York to claim his estate, which was finally settled in 1864.
