1940's, Cub Leaders Totem

1940's, Cub Leaders Totem
About this object
Many Cub Packs used a "totem" consisting of a wolf's head on a stick. The Akela of the Anglican Boys Home in Lower Hutt Mrs Sussana Hoggard, was presented with a "totem" carved by Mr. W.B.Fink, who was a carver with the National Museum carved in the Maori style, probably in the 1940's. The main figure is to represent Scoutings founder, Robert Baden-Powell, while the adjacent figures are of the "princess" or National leader of the Cubs in NZ, Miss Nancy Wilson, the other the leader of cubs in the Hutt Valley, Mrs Hoggard.
