A NZ Post Office telegram received at Tai Tapu and postmarked from the Telephone Exchange there and delivered to the Scout Jamborette being held at the racecourse at Motukarara, January, 1954. The telegram contained greetings to the Scouts at the Jamborette from the scouters of the Makogai Island Scouts. Makogai island is in the Lomaiviti archipelago of Fiji and was a Leper colony. The Scouts and Leaders of this group would have been sufferers of this disease.
