Medium and Materials
Ceramic Stoneware. Hand modelled by a beating process in a supporting plaster of paris mould textured rim developers from the beating process outer surface and rim pigmented with burnt umber. Inside of bowl, an under glaze covered with a blue green semi-mat over glaze.
PROCESS: Stoneware firing to 1300 degrees celcius. Fired in an LPG Kiln.
Subject and Association Description
Len Castle has been a full time potter since 1963 and helped to establish the New Zealand Potters association. The time he spent in Korea , Japan and China has been a great influence on him as has his love of the forms, texture, colour and patterns of nature.
