About this object
The image of the crucifixion is one which appears often in Jeffery Harris 's work, though it is not always Christ. As his work developed, the crucifixion, a symbol which he felt was a very powerful and universally recognised, became a symbol of both personal and public loss and dilema.

Subject and Association Description
Jeffrey Harris was not a man of faith, but was drawn to the the use of the cruxifixion by other artists and felt it symbolised something that many people could identify with as extremely evocative and intense, even in New Zealand where social and political issues were not as angst ridden as elsewhere in the world.
