Subject and Association Description
"Joseph Albert Walding ran a Manawatū wide catering business called Smith and Walding. From 1959 to 1968 he was a city councillor, and in 1967 he also became the Labour MP for Palmerston North, and served as MP until 1975.
During the 1972 to 1975 Labour Government he was Minister of Overseas Trade, Minister of the Environment and Minister of Recreation and Sport. When the Labour Government returned to power in 1984 he was appointed High Commissioner to London, where he died in 1985."
