About this object
Wooden, three-legged spinning wheel. The wheel has turned spokes and sits inside a frame of turned wood parts. Next to the wheel is a smaller turned frame which holds a spool for yarn which sit on a rectangular base. There is a carry handle on the end of the base, underneath this is a wooden triangular treadle between the legs, with a separate wooden driving rod connecting it to a metal extension at the end of the wheel axle.

The spinning wheel was brought to New Zealand by Mrs Oden, nee Johanna Anderson, when she came from Sweden in 1878, at the age of 28.
