About this object
Built by John Key and Son, Engineers and Shipbuilders, Kirkcaldy, Scotland, in 1877. This is the original waterworks engine for Auckland. It began pumping in 1879. Its regular use finished 1928. Kept as a reserve pumping station until 1935.

Beam Engine. Twin-cylinder, double-acting, double expansion, compound, condensing. No. 152.
No Boilers.
