About this object
A homemade harness, made from an old pinstriped waistcoat. Reinforced with webbing on back and shoulders attached to waistcoat. Front webbing has 2 hooks made of No. 8 wire, bound with nylon fishing line.
The gimble fishing belt is made from an old leather saddle. The gimble is attached to the saddle by 4 nuts and bolts. The gimble allows the fishing rod to be held comfortably for longer periods, as you try to land your fish.
Used locally (in the Bream Bay, New Zealand area) by Des Cullen when he went big game fishing in his boat 'Joanne'. Circa 1940's 1950's.
A classic No.8 wire invention!
