About this object
Retrieved from 'RMS Niagara' which was sunk by a German mine in Bream Bay, June 1940. This mechanical log measures a vessel's speed moving though water. The blade rotator is towed astern. As it spins, the rotations of the towing line are registered by a wheel works and dial mounted to the vessel's rail. Made of brass with glass face.
