Mrs Berney was a daughter of Mr Charles Logie, first Collector of Customs in Dunedin.

Mr George Berney (1807-1906), and Mrs Berney (1833-1924) are buried in the Owaka Cemetery.

Inscription and Marks
Written by John Logan around and on the back of the newsclipping is information on the history of the Berney family. He notes [difficult to read] that Sir Henry H Berney was killed at Monte Christo, however, it was Sir Henry's son, Thomas Hugh, that was killed there [see general notes].
