About this object
Ewer and basin set; a large, ceramic basin with moulded floral motifs around the inner rim and brown transfer-prints, also floral, inside and out. The rim is painted gold. The ewer is made to match, with the same brown transfer-print designs and moulded decoration on the handle. Ewer and basin sets were used for washing the hands and such, before the advent of widespread domestic plumbing.
