About this object
Accordion; a German-made accordion in its original box, along with two instructional music books. The accordion consists of a wooden and cardboard frame with decorative metal strapping, three wooden stops and red leather bellows. Impressed into the metal strapping is: "Regal Melodeon, Made in Germany". The cardboard box is covered with wood-grain patterned paper and bears a sticker which is printed: "The Regal Melodeon, Best Quality". The first book is titled "The First Step, How to Play the Melodeon or Accordion" by Lew Stern, published in 1928 by Keith Prowse & Co, Ltd of London. The second book is titled: "Play Easy Accordeon [sic] Tutor", published by Allan & Co, Prop Ltd.
