About this object
Bird of paradise (Paradisaea rudolphi) skin. Head and neck coloured black, then turquoise blue coloured feathers followed by a short black border of small feathers. Below border feathers are bright blue, longer and trail into turquoise blue and brown colours. The tail feathers are separate and are longer and slender with slightly wider and rounded end feathers and blue dots.

Six various bird of paradise skins were gifted to the donor by Ross Berridge of Tokatoka, near Dargaville. Ross worked in Papua New Guinea for a Christian organisation there in the 1970's.
