About this object
The Harbour View Hotel in Bow Street, Raglan, has provided hospitality to locals and visitors since 1866. This, the third hotel on the site with the same name, was built early in 1905 after the second building burnt down in 1904. The facility was described thus: “Tourists and families will find this hotel replete with every comfort and convenience: Good Stabling, Paddocks and Billiard Saloon”.

You are correct John. This photo and caption was uploaded before the NZHPT report. The Raglan Museum Society photo provided photos for the investigation showing the first, second and third Harbourview Hotel buildings. This photo is of the third and current building.

I (and NZHPT http://www.historic.org.nz/TheRegister/RegisterSearch/RegisterResults.aspx?RID=740) think the Harbour View burnt down about 2am on 14th December 1901 and also in 1904. If so, this was the third. Raglan County Chronicle for 2nd October 1903 advert - Mrs Reid, proprietress, begs to inform that she has newly-furnished throughout this house. Bob Vernon wrote "I read in a 1904 Chronicle that the architect for Nathan's is staying in Raglan making plans to rebuild the Harbour View Hotel." The 1910 Gilmour postcard of Green St shows a building identical to this.
