About this object
Embroidered gauze or muslin apron hand made. Long apron, with skirt part gathered to waistband. 5cm hem on sides and bottom and embroidered border inside the hem. 4cm wide waistband that is also embroidered. Embroidery raised satin stitch and is worked in wool, with flowers branching from a continuous brown 'stem' which trails through the pattern, flowers are pinks, mauves and foliage is gold and green. Waist is tied with two metal hooks and eyes, but one eye is missing. Waist very small 211/2" or 54.5cm so most likely from an era of corseted waists.
