About this object
Bead snake. Sent to donor's mother Mrs Jeanie Sterling by her brother-in-law 13291 Sgt. Frederick Sterling who got it from a Turkish prisoner while he was in Turkey during World War One. Glass beads are woven on to thread in a circle to create the shape of a snake. The insides are also stuffed to make it more solid. The colours are yellow, green and black down back and head in a zigzag pattern, white and black under belly. Mouth is open at one end. On under side is inscription 'Turkish Prisoner 1919'.
