About this object
Mummy of Tash pen Khonsu dating back to about 150 BC. The body is a woman aged about 25 and is placed in a coffin made from a hollowed out piece of wood. The hieroglyphics on the coffin give the information that Tash pen Khonsu was a noble by birth and married.

Subject and Association Description
The Eygptian mummy Tash pen Khonsu, EA1989.13 was originally part of the Hilton Price collection and purchased in London in 1886.
Medium and Materials
The coffin consists of a base, hollowed out of the one piece of wood, and lid now detached to allow the mummy to be viewed. Both base and lid have a linen and plaster finish. The outside of the coffin has painted hieroglyphic funerary inscriptions. Body completely wrapped in linen. Head and torso covered with a painted linen mask and cartenage.

tash pen khonsu, she is my favourtie part of going to the museum every time i go there i visit her i feel i have a conection to her as every since i was a child where ever i visited the museum i have felt like i was home like i knew her in a past life i wish there was more to go on about her. im 35 & i have aspergers i have felt out of place in my life but when im with her i have felt like i was at peace as if i had found her again
